Weekend before last, I drove over to Indiana to pick up an extra breechplug for my SMI / H&R barrel. I would up buying two so that I could have a matched pair. The current ones feature an "expansion chamber underneath the primer. The ~.030 vent is thus toward the muzzle end of the plug. It is kind of a backwards version of what my barrel came with. So, I've got the latest and greatest, but I'm not sure what practical difference to expect. Anybody else make this change?

Nope I can't keep up with the changes in breech plug design from SMI. I have three barrels from them and they all came with slightly different breech plugs. The good news is they don't cost much so you can buy the latest design and keep the others as spares.
