MMM Nice comparison, great pictures. I never really cared for the debate Substitute vs Black Powder, now I see lots a smoke less pressure out of Black Powder. Just reminds me how superior substitutes are to black powder. I do not shoot for smoke, never had never will I shoot to hit targets or but meat on the table. Pyrodex wins again
 
I started with black powder when I got into muzzleloading in the 1960s and have no reason to change. Substitutes didn't exist back then so I never gave them a second thought when they started hitting the market. I shoot flintlocks anyway and subs are kinda "iffy" in them I am told.
