How does everyone store their molds? I’m looking for rust prevention ideas for both short term and longer term storage.

This would be more for iron moulds also what is your prep for use method

My steel molds get wrapped in oiled paper and put in a plastic box. My aluminum molds just get put in a cardboard box.

I clean them with denatured alcohol and dry them before use.

I do the same but after they are dried I coat them with oil and store them in a zip lock bag. When I go to use them the next time I clean them with either brake cleaner or Acetone.

I clean my molds after use and then wipe them thoroughly with Ballistol till the next use ,then soapy water cleans them up and rinse/ dry/heat on the hot plate/cast !

After cooling, I use WD-40.
Might also depends on the storage environment.
Any oil is better than nothing.

All my molds are cast aluminum, I clean them with WD-40 and store them with a light coat of Break Free CLP.

Steel get oiled aluminum gets the steel parts oiled I store in big 40mm? ammo box, they have a gasket seal

Mine get nothing! No problems what so ever. Scrubbed when there new and stored on a shelf inside.
