So, interesting story-about 10 years ago, my mother said she found a gun under her bed, she gave it to me. As it turns out, it was an 1858 Rem pistol Kit. I was not into black powder during that time, and didn't think much about it. Well, with renewed interest, and recently bringing back my Hawken to life, I got curious and pulled it out of the holster it was in. Metal was in the raw, and rusty, someone had "assembled the parts" and quite likely shot it, but none of the parts were fitted, handles were rough and oversized, etc. So with some sandblasting, filing, sanding etc, I was able to get it timed and put together-a degrease, de-gas in the oven, and a couple coats of perma blue and it looks halfway decent:

Front sight was ruined by original owner while filing down dovetail, can that be replaced-it looks as if dovetail has a hole where front sight screws in? Handle pin is missing, but pistol fires, and seems pretty accurate, but very high at 15 yards.

Incidentally, I have no idea of manufacture-the only markings on the pistol are bottom of the barrel under the bullet press/cylinder pin and on left frame under the grip-"305", there maybe a circle next to the 305 under the grip, but very hard to make out. Any comments or recommendations for parts/identity would be appreciated.
