Hello!!!! New to the site here and have a question for you guys. It may have already been asked so forgive me for a repeat. I picked up a box of the 777 mag pellets for my t/c triumph 50 cal on a recommendation from a friend. They claim you get 2000 fps with 2 pellets shooting a 250 grn bullet. Does anyone know what kind of muzzle velocity you can get from 3 of the regular 777 pellets with the same type bullet? This is for a 50 caliber and I'm using the 250 grn shock waves.

I would suggest that you refrain from doing three magnums, you are only supposed to use two because unless you are using a gun designed for smokeless powder the pressure will be more than is advisable. Lee

I agree with you on that! I only use 2 of the magnum pellets at a time. Just curious if the 3 regular 777 pellets were pushing the pill a little faster.

I thought I remember that T7 magnum pellets were equivelent to 60 grains on T7-2f - so shooting 3 of them would be like shooting 180 grains of loose T7. It would certainly move the load out at a faster velocity - just not sure the gun could sustain that pressure and heat over and over again...

I am not a pellet shooter so do not take the above to the bank...

Deuce,

From the numbers I have seen, three 777 pellets are a tad faster than two of the magnums... I don't think it's much but they are a little stouter.

TRIPLE SEVEN MAGNUMS give you the capability to make a longer shot and deliver more energy to the target.. Using two Magnums you can achieve an additional 200-250 feet per second (fps). This normally results in muzzle velocities of approximately 2,000 fps.
Hodgdon specifically warns against loading more than 2 pellets per shot. Failure to do so may cause injury or death to the user and/or bystanders.?

all you have to do is FOLLOW HODGDON SPECIFICATION and play it save

777

October, 2007 American Rifleman chrono'd Pyrodex, 777 (both powder and pellets) along with APP powder and sticks, real BP, Black Mag and Pinnacle, all w/245gr Hornady SST. Knight KRB .50 cal w/27" barrel. Here's some info for you:

100gr 777 powder did 1961 fps
2 777 pellets did 1731 fps
150gr powder did 2166 fps
3 777 pellets did 2106 fps
2 777Mag pellets did 1850 fps

Do not use three pellets. I use 77 mag pellets in my Triumph and get great results and ballistics with them. I shoot the 295 gr TMZ and they shhot around 2200 fps. Fast enough for me
