I’m only a veteran in the way as a youngster having always watched “Combat” on tv. Yup Sgt Chip Saunders and Pvt Little John my heroes.
So thanks to all the real veterans for having taking a part of their time in life to serve and protect our country.
Please read on.
Just this week I participated in lottery 3 day ml deer hunt.
This hunt is now etched in my hunting repository.
Reason.
First day me and fella hunters are at a skinning pole.
A fella comes up with a deer and let us know it was his first whitetail.
Heck ya! Congrats abound.
We graciously helped him through the whole skinning process. ( and offered beverage,,,,you guess type lol)
Names exchanged and found out to be a retired USMC Gunny.
Cool!
Two days later ( last day) on hunt with a designated shooting area I ran into Gunny.
He was in my appointed spot. Inadvertently to no mistake on his part.
We quickly decided you shoot this direction and I’ll shoot this direction.
Plus I mentioned we might get a double header.
We’ll darn if we didn’t. High fives went up!,
Helped him a the skinning pole and invited him to dinner and stay at our cabin.
We shared our hunting, muzzle loader knowledge and stories.
If I were in the military , I would‘ve wanted him for a Gunny.
Top notch quality guy.
So unknowingly he made this Veterans Day memorable for me.
So Thanks Gunny.
