Pete i went to the range today and was shooting my 1:76 twist .54 , think i have to agree with Jon on Sam being FOS.

I used loads up to 150 gr BP but after 130gr 2F Wano the velocity stopped rising. A change from 120 - 130 gr netted a 106 fps increase but from 130 - 140 gr only 6 fps.

So i think he was wasting powder like mad .

I have no idea. I was too afraid to go that far past what the manufacture recommended as the max load.

Besides, 80 gr of Swiss killed an elk with a PRB, so why bother?

It's a custom gun that's rated for 150 gr but imo it's silly to use that much when 120gr will give nearly the same velocity.

He never mentioned the loads being safe or not. He never talks about the guns used either.

He did talk about a hunter killing an elephant though. I remember it was a 600 gr conical, and some stupid amount of powder. It must have kicked like two mules.
