Me. I bowhunt also
Cool photos ENCORE!!
I don’t remember hearing of that Particular Bear Bow? My Dad has an Old bow that is over 40 Years old. I just looked at it the other day, It is Called a Bear “Polar 2” He bought it in 1976-77, We Elk hunted together here in 2010-11, Dad killed a DARN NICE Bull with His Old Bow After that Bull Elk, He got hooked in it again! I bought him a NICE Mathews Switchback XT the Next Year and Set it up to the HILT, He hasn’t Killed anything since I told him he needs to Throw the New one down and Grab his Old Bow again He can sure Shoot this New Bow good! The first 2-3 years i lived here in Idaho the Elk Hunting was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! NUMEROUS Bull encounters Through the Entire Archery Season, Sadly, it isn’t worth buying a Tag here in Unit 1 anymore. I haven’t heard a Bull Bugle up here in several Years now. Wolves took care of that
What kind of Bow do you Shoot Today?
That Pinto was actually white, made right here in Grayling MI when Bear Archery was in its hey days. Note the date on the photo... 1965. I had to put camo on the limbs. Took a couple bucks with that bow. From that I went to a Bear Grizzly and took a few with that. I graduated, if you want to call it that, to a Browning that I can't remember the name of and was a compound (wheeler). I think I missed more deer than I harvested with that Browning I got to talking with a guy at work that had an archery shop he worked on the side. He talked me into a PSE Strato Flight Express with a sight and rear peep. OH BOY.... that changed things. Used that compound for a long time and took a lot of whitetail with it, then went to a Matthews Outback. I loved that Outback! Then one day I decided I needed to "upgrade", so I bought another Matthews but the Z7. Accurate little bugger. Once it got to the point (age) that even though it had an 80% let off, it became harder to hold ready for a couple minutes, was the point I decided to go to the crossbow.
My crossbow is a Mission 360MXB and ridiculously accurate out to 60yds and has a Hawke scope. Now I'm not shooting at game at 60yds, but the Mission WILL do it.
I had a Mathews Outback as well, GREAT LITTLE Bow!! And I Currently Shoot a Mathews Z7, Just the Straight Z7 and Not the Extreme, Mine has the Solid Black Riser, and Camo limbs, With Red Accents. This Z7 is undoubtedly my Favorite Bow Through out the years of Owning MANY of them. Luckily for me, My Sport Shop Owner/friend upgraded to the Newest Mathews and Sold me his Old Z7 that was Basically like Brand new. I love it when he upgrades This is Sorta how i ended up with my Nightforce NXS Scope, in a Round about way, He DEFINITELY didn’t upgrade from it, He just passed on a SMOKING Deal to me, I paid a little less than 1/2 what they Cost
I too had this shoulder thing had it replaced a year ago January with one of those reverse socket titanium joints. It's not on the string hand, it's on the hand that holds the bow and I got permission from the doctor to shoot my bow limitedly If I set it at 30 pounds. I done that, I still hunt, I don't get many shots, I figure my range is 15 yards. I just turned 81. If I ever get a chance to release it, it's got to be a sure thing or it's a no-no.I can no longer pull back my Oneida bow, even set a 45 lbs draw. I miss bow hunting but hurt my should a few years ago and at 73 to now it's not good.
