Hello. I have some White muzzleloaders I am trying to sell. I need to get photos of inside of barrel but don’t know how to open the “action” part of the rifle. Maybe called breach? I don’t know anything about these, except value depends a lot on condition of inside of barrel. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Wow - yeah that sucker is in need of some TLC.

You’ll want to remove the hammer assembly by first removing that little flat-head retaining screw on the left side. Then remove the breech plug with a properly sized socket and long extension.

I was able to get the hammer assembly removed, and the breech plug. It needed some cleaning, but cleaned up pretty well in my opinion.

The hammer itself, which hits the breechplug, will unscrew out of the bolt. Be careful because there is a spring underneath it.

Looks like it cleaned up pretty well!!
