Back in Dad’s Hound days, This was probably closer Toward the end of it. This was the same cougar that killed the Mountain Goat. The story on this was kinda neat, There was an old man that lived in the same little town i grew up in that ABSOLUTELY loved Mountain Goats, they were truly his passion and he spent most of his life studying them, he had been watching a Herd of 12-15 Goats in a rough remote area for a few months, all of a sudden they started dwindling down? About 1 Goat a week, sometimes 2, The old man was convinced that someone was poaching them? He setup a remote camp not far from the area of the Goats, but out of the way of a possible poacher seeing him, The old guy would Trek in to the goats on foot every morning, 1 morning he witnessed the remaining Goats FLEE from the Rocks like WILDFIRE for no apparent reason? It only took a few minutes and a Cougar slid in to view, The old guy headed to town to get my Dad and his Hounds, They had that cougar treed in just a few minutes after turning the dogs on it, They found the Goat kill very close by the tree the Cougar went up, they cut the head off the Goat and took it, Thats how the Goat head in the picture above came to be. The Mountain Goats are Extinct in those areas now days, they haven’t been seen in MANY years now
