T- 4 days!
Will be using my Renegade .50 with the TC aperture rear sight.
The load will be a 230 grain XTP in a Harvester crush rib sabot over 70 grains of 3f Swiss. This load bug holes in this rifle.
Been dying to try it on deer, but with overlapping bear seasons in the early antlerless and rifle deer seasons, I thought it pruden wait for the deer only flintlock season. I expect quite a power dump from this .45 a.c.p. bullet. I've found XTPs to be uniformly excellent across .40, .44 and .45 caliber.

Hi Ed. This is that Renegade I got just before you got to Dixon's that day. 70 grains of 3f Swiss and a Harvester crush rib. Recoil is light and accuracy excellent..45 caliber 250 grains is as long as a 1-48 will theoretically handle. This one shoots those nicely and the 200 grain .45 XTPs are spooky. Will try those one day too.
Why not ball or conical? These sabot loads are what she shoots best.
LORD knows I need all the help I can get!
A .58... Good choice! I have a .54 I'm thinking of having rebored to .577 for minies...
Good fortune to all!
