I believe you shoot at your own local range and submit your target.
Oh okay. Gotcha

Around here there is only 1 range that is outdoors and allows BP, another does but is only open 1 or 2 days a week.

Anything else needs a membership and to be invited by an already associated member.

I'm hoping to find a place to shoot regularly soon, i just came back to CT recently.

My thoughts to keep things simple is 2 classes of guns
Hunting types:
Break actions
Cva optima
Cva scout conversions
Encore action types
Patriot actions
Flintlock
Precusion rifles
Anything you might hunt with.
You could have a subcategory for iron sights
I know people hunt with bolt guns but by design there going to have a competition advantage.

Modern target rifles:
Pretty much anything goes with the exception of machine hydrolic recoil controlled rests.
You could submit your break actions here too if you choose up to the shooter.
If you have your setup really turned up why not

The spirit and intent is to have fun and get people out shooting.
As far as distance goes I think that 100 yards and 200 yards be separate matches.
Because some people only have 100 some have both I wouldn't want to discourage
Anyone from playing because they just don't have access to the distance.
I like the target above bottom left.

As proposed that's 5 separate matches
A person could compete in
Hopefully all of them
I'd shoot 4 for sure

Each match could consist of 10 shots
For a max score of 100 10x
Each shot shot on a clean target ???
Or all on 1?

My thoughts

Changed to reflect the different ranges. The shooter could shoot both or only one. Here, two shooters only shot the 100yd match.

Something to consider as far as targets....................

If a person was to print targets, then unless you have a laser printer, you'll be using a ton of ink printing targets. I know ink is expensive as all get out, which would actually be much more expensive than if 6" shoot-n-c targets were used.

THOUGHTS......................

What ever we do we would be locked in for a month anyway.
I thought printed targets so everyone had access.
I'm going to sit down and design something
That is just the scoring lines.
To help with that issue.

Suggestion on targets. If the shooters are going for score then you obviously need standardized targets. However, if they are shooting for group size, they can take any white sheet of paper and draw any size circle they want [like tracing around a jar lid or a quarter] using a magic marker. Size won't matter as long as they are comfortable shooting at it. The group shot can be anywhere on the paper since it is only the group size that matters. This would simplify the targets for the group shooters since everybody can make their own. Just sayin'. X

Ok............................

GaSmokey and I've talked through this a number of times, including another phone conversation this forenoon.

AGAIN.... his intention is to make this fun for everyone. My intention by helping is also to make it fun, but also fair to all. That said, he and I compromised on a couple things, which is the right way.

We could separate plastic vs btb, and round ball vs conical, and etc., but to be honest, it doesn't need to get that technical.

At this stage, this is what's being proposed...........

Postal match

Rule ……………

If you agree to participate, you do it at your own risk and will not hold any other person liable or responsible for any reason what so ever.

Honor system………..

Two classes.

HUNTING CLASS: Break open actions:

All CVA break open rifles, except when shooting SML
CVA Crossfire
All TC break open rifles except when shooting SML
Patriot actions except when shooting SML
Traditions break open rifles
Traditions NitroFire
Knight plunger rifles
Flintlocks
Percussion rifles

MODERN CLASS: All other rifles, including any rifles shooting SML.

Any rifle with a bolt, or bolt type action used to place any type primer.
TC Omega
All customs

Any SAFE muzzleloading rifle. Any optic. Muzzle brakes allowed. Any position, bench, prone, standing, etc.

Any SAFE propellant which your rifle is designed to shoot…. BP, Substitutes, SML.

Front rest or bipod. Separate rear rest allowed.

Targets will be the 6” shoot-n-c targets pasted on a piece of cardboard.

Targets may also be a print out of the shoot-n-c target taped to cardboard.

Targets shot at 200yds and 100yds, one or the other, or both.

Scoring.. Bullet MUST completely break the line to count a higher score. Bullets not on target do not score.

If there’s a questionable score, three individuals will be chosen to make the final decision.

Ok......................... we will take thoughts.................

Looks real good George to clarify
A match is how many shots ? 5 shots 10shots 20 shots?
We will be using target points correct.

Sounds like fun as long as I don't have to compete with Danthedishwasher...!!!!! LOL
I only shoot June, July and August. The rest of the time I'm hunting or in Florida.

My thoughts
A match would be 10 rounds.
Would really separate the pack.
The consistent shooter will need to maintain focus fir ten shots.
Thr casual shooter will shoot enough ti improve over the course of a match.

Wouldn't weight any one shot heavily.
A little off on one shot you might be unhappy with 5
.10 is in the realistic time cycle one could exspect to commit in a match.

I'd be cleaning between shots myself anyways. With my 777 gun.
So I'd set aside an hour hour and a half to a match.
Most Walmart packs of bullets come in packs of 10 or 12

We will be scoring the targets based on scoring lines counting x

Where are the other forum's matches located?
It's a postal match under the muzzleloading forum. Print your target, shoot it and score it. Take a photo and post it. Easy peasy. Must be a member to do this, all you have to do is sign up.
Several categories including smoothbore, pistol and rifle. Supported and off hand.
