I didn't even realize you could buy TSS shot. After looking at the price of loaded shotgun shell using TSS, I was in shock.
Expensive indeed ! You can buy everything you need for one box( five rounds for $71 + tax = $80 for me). Roll crimping is super easy , you can use a cordless driver if you don't have a drill press;
100 primed hulls for $20, another $30 for some wads, shot cards, felt, etc. and you're in the game ! https://www.ballisticproducts.com/C...ss-primed_skived-bag_100/productinfo/1391276/

I suspect that with the second load minus the wad the shot cups did not expand the petals. Thus the shot stayed inside the shot cups. Without the wad there could have been more leakage preventing the cups from going as fast.

Yeah that TSS stuff is incredibly expensive. I choke gag and pike at the prices for the things too. But the various government agencies have been banning lead shot and bullets even.

I think I'll stick with my Winchester Long Beard ammo. I can buy a box of 10 for under $30. I would have no problem killing a bird at 50 yds with it. I have killed several gobblers at about 45 yards with it. I realize TSS is a game changer, but I would never take a 70 plus yard shot at a spring tom any way. For me it has always been about the hunt and calling the bird in close. Not about shooting a hung-up bird at 70.
Not to mention all the money I will save. Patterning your gun or tuning in a new sight or choke tube with TSS can cost a small fortune.

I totally missed the second pic that shows a breaching load. So my comments would be in error about not cutting petals deeper thoughts.
Assuming the fiber wad being used for an OP wad first pic.
Then without on the breaching loads.
Recover the fired wads and examine the base . Gas seal issue and no choke to compress wad?

I don't use it for killing turkeys at 70+ yards. I use it for recoil reduction. I can shoot a smaller payload than normal lead turkey loads and still kill to 40 yards. Getting pounded by 12ga 3inch 2oz load of #6 in a Remington 11-87 has lost its appeal.
