Lately, I purchased a new White 91 .410 caliber. That's kind of an odd-ball caliber isn't it? The thing IS...in Alabama .40cal muzzleloaders and LARGER are legal for use on whitetail. I bought some No Excuses 410gr .410cal bullets to shoot in it based on my past successes using those bullets. To the range I go! I had decided on trying 65gr fffg 777 and the 410gr NE to start with. Much to my dismay, the bullet fit was TIGHT! No slip-fit situation here! In fact, the rifling-engraving fit was SO tight, I didn't really feel comfortable shooting them. NEVERTHELESS, I shot nine shots. I even had to spit-patch between shots to insure seating the bullet fully!
Measuring the .410cal 410gr No Excuses yielded an OD of .411. Aren't they supposed to be .409, 0.001 smaller than the barrel diameter, .410? I would THINK so! So....I thought I'd order a few of the White Power Punch .410cal 400gr bullets. Well, I got them in today and YES they measure .409! Maybe they will work better! I'll let you know as soon as I get back from another range trip.
