They set off Blackhorn 209 no problem.
The thing is though, my plug is made to fit a CCI209M or standard CCI209. Other primers wont fit but im not sure if i ever tried a FED209A. I know things like a Win209 wont. If they fit, the chance is very good they are just "rebranded" CCIs.

Marked $53 on the shelf at mine but at least they had the new Fed209MZ primers for me to test out. If they will fit my NULA plug and ignite smokeless they have to be full power 209s.
I have a 50bmg barrel I thought about usen for a smokeless muzzleloader build

This has been mentioned before, put the BH209 loaded gun (unprimed) , along with a few primers in the freezer overnight. Take it outside and see if it will fire using the ML primers. Most freezers run 0 to -10 F.
If it doesn’t fire on the first shot the try another primer. If it does fire on the first shot then pop a couple more of the frozen primers just for verification.

This is intresting also first time iv ran across reading this .so the cold temperatures can cause the primers not to fire ? I would think in that since the metal ones it comes out of the freezer would sweat in a since cause the change in temp causing moisture on inside and out to keep from firing.

Once not ones sorry about that

What is the OD of the barrel,
At the chamber end it is 1.600" it's thats thickness for 2.169 .chamber ID is .711 .After the 2.169 the barrel od steps down to 1.413od then after 11inches steps down again to 1.128 od ,over all length is 27 inches long the muzzle is threaded for a brake . i was told it was made by mossberg it was a barrel saftey harbor sold a while back ,kinda long story I was going to build a 50bmg with it but pondering the idea of a heavy duty smokeless muzzleloader. It would

It sounds like you would have almost 25" left after you cut off the chamber. You would probably want to turn down the diameter a little to save on weight. You might want to push some sabots with a bullet in them down the barrel to see if it has a consistent diameter from one end to the other. If it gets easier to push as it goes down, you know the barrel has some taper on the inside.

I'll give it a try and let you know ,I did it before but that was good while back so don't remember what was like .I thought about keeping the chamber section and just custom making an over size breech plug it would be a bench gun to see how long a range I could get out it ,right now it's a project on the back burner for now, have to finnish up my old 79 jeep j10 truck before texas gets cold been bicycling to and from work

Hey gents!

Newbie here from NW Mississippi. Here locally at Sportmans Warehouse they had BH 209 for $48.86 I believe last week. You might want to try there. I'm bringing out my original Rem 700 and putting her back in action after a bolt conversion from Badger Ridge and a new laminated stock from Boyd's to replace the "Tupperware" stock it came with.

Best wishes,

Actually, i believe that the problem is, in very cold temps, if the bh209 isnt sealed up very well by both bullet and primer, a weaker primer may not always ignite the bh209. So while a ML specific 209 may work in the spring/summer on a marginally sealing load, it may not work 100% in fall winter, causing the misfire when you need reliability the most.
