Tomorrows (Saturday ) deer drive is going to be windy, dropping temps, and possibly rain. Crap. But it will make for a good deer drive. Deer will not hear us setting up or those who slam doors, have their talkies too loud, or just too loud voice wise. Im betting we kill a few. Sorry you cant make it Muzzy, hope to see you next week.

Gonna be a windy one tomorrow and rain turning to snow where I’m at..im
I’m zone 3..muzzleloader season doesn’t even exist anymore :/
With hunter numbers dropping the way they are, I can see the DNR extending late seasons for firearms to all zones. The ML regulations change in zone three is just another reason in a long list of reasons I've quit hunting.

Perhaps it's my failing memory, but I can't recall having crappier weather for the Nov 15 - 30 firearms season here in Michigan. It seems the winds, clouds, and precipitation were non-stop. Here's hoping the muzzleloader meteorologist is kinder to us over the next couple wekends.
Good luck out there Hausser.

I never cared about hunting in rain, sleet or snow & some wind when I was younger & once I could afford good hunting gear - gortex/ scentlock clothes & good boots. I didn't get cold or wet anymore. But in my older yrs, I've turned into a sissy fair weather only hunter & half the time, I hunt from the couch in the fam rm or off the back porch these days.

High winds here too in north central Indiana, stayed home too.

Oh no, Not us. We drove to the appointed meeting spot in the pouring rain. The wind just about pushing us of off the road. I heard about half the crew had called in with excuses of one kind or another. Out fearless leader did have the vision to see the storm would pass in an hour and a half and said lets just meet for breakfast until it blows over. No arguments there.

In the end we did get some shooting. I passed a scrawny 6 point and Hauser1 passed on another ugly 6 point. The 6 point I passed on caught me as I was watering a tree. I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye and theres this 6 point walking straight at me at 50 yards. I didn't want to drizzle on my drawers so finished my business and decided to remain dead still. He closed to 15 yards and finally noticed me but wasn't really scared. He jumped into the ditch row I was standing in so I grabbed my gun and brought it up.

He stopped on the far edge of the ditch and at 30 yards broadside I let him pass. This keeps the landlord in good with the neighbors who hunt. If they think we are shooting all the bucks that could start a problem. Yep, a rough day but shots were fired and a good time had by all. I hear we have 20 guys coming next week. We have some huge acreages to hunt. Should be good.

Yeah we who went hunting yesterday and didn't kill any deer are getting some razzing from the folks that stayed home and watched TV. But I had a great time and would and will do it again in any crappy weather. After I get soaked and cold the coffee will taste so much better as I clean my gun.
