#11 cap shortage.........

I've been scouring the net for some #11 caps and have not had much luck. Anyone happen to know where some can be had?

Can't help. I bought 1000 CCI #10 caps a couple of weeks ago online. Used them today on my underhammer boot pistol. Did not fit tightly, but all fired off the charges.

My friend, I didn't doubt you. You didn't have to prove anything to anyone here in this forum.
I'm agreeing with those who have checked and now, there is a real shortage of #11 caps.
WalMart doesn't have them listed at all. So, something in the world of percussion caps is going on.

I'm beginning to wonder if Pedersoli and their issues with raw materials, Lyman no longer importing firearms and the lack on #11 caps are connected.
I am not a conspiracy person. That is not where I am going.
I'm wondering if its all COVID related in China. The country is somewhat shutdown and exports are at a minimun. So, is China a common thread through all of this?

No but between panic buying of ammo and reloading supplies and such since March 2020 and things in the centerfire world at least being available mostly even if slightly inflated pricing but then you have to think about where a company will spend its resources to earn whatever profit it can. The demand just isn't there even if the best of times compared to the demand for centerfire and rimfire.

For those that got caps recently-ish from Wally, what lot number are yours? I had a lot of FTFs on #11s I got at my local wally August 2022 (only time they get hunting or muzzle loading stuff in) and when I contacted CCI I was told that the caps I bought were made in 2019...

There is or was some definite hording going on. Now there is scalping.
The normal shooter can't get these, but dealer can, and this is what they are doing with them.

Depends on how they were stored... went thru two new nipples both of which shot my existing #10s (Remingtons) fine, the second one I get a disappointment instead of kaboom 20-25% of the time

The only way to be sure if Wally has them is to go look in person or have someone you know check it out. Especially when it comes to gun stuff. My wife and I order groceries to pick up at the store. On the invoice it reads out of stock. Walk in the store myself and there it is.

Perhaps, for the short term, we should convert to Musket caps. There seems to be plenty of them.

Maybe, the shortage of Caps is a way to get everyone to buy a Flintlock. ;-)
