I was looking at the breech plug for my Optima pistol. For no other reason than I have plenty of musket caps and they are available unlike 209 primers.
From what I have read, it looks like it will fit my pistol ok?

Once a new plug is seated in a gun it should stay with that gun. Not saying you cannot use it in a different gun using the same plug, but being seated to one does not assure that it will seal with another or that if used in another it will re-seat properly in the original gun. As far as going from primer to cap style plug you're good to go as long as you stay away from bh209 powder.

Thanks for the help. My pistol is the only inline I have anyway. I do have some BH209 but could not get it to ignite properly with the primers that I have. I have been shooting Swiss 3f powder in my gun. It works fine for me.

The plug will fit in the pistol. The plug even pre-pandemic was hard to get though. I bought several when I bought my NW rifle. Then they disappeared.
I haven’t used one to shoot. I just ran it in to see if it would fit.

I was wondering if you might want to sell one? I can't seem to find one in stock anywhere.

At this time I’m hanging on to what I have. CVA couldn’t confirm that they would sell them without buying a new gun. Hence the lack of stock.

Which is crappy in my opinion. Can’t buy parts for them? Ughh.

I guess CVA is hoping the hold out states give up and conform. then we can plugin a 209 plug.

RWS caps ar spit of stock everywhere I look. So not sure a NW plug makes sense either.

Gotcha, thanks all the same.

I should have purchased the CVA, QRBP, Optima V2, NorthWest breech plug 8 months ago like I had intended to. I wanted it as a fourth option for ignition in the Optima V2 pistol.

I already have a standard CVA 209 primer breech plug (#1) that came with the pistol when I got it from MtMonkey.

Instead, since I was so far away from Doc White getting around to making the new stocks for the pistol, I elected to wait to purchase the NorthWest breech plugs until later.

Silly Rabbit, Tricks Are For Kids!!!!!

Now, like dirtsailor2003 has stated, CVA is not making them, nor selling them as aftermarket parts.

Right after I got the pistol from MtMonkey, I purchased a Lehigh Defense #BH-BH-C1, CVA, 209 primer breech plug (#2), along with a package/4 replacement vent liners. This was going to be my primary breech plug.

I was going to purchase 4 of the CVA, QRBP, NorthWest breech plugs. My intention was to have a machinist modify them so that they could take a replaceable, AMPCO bronze, 1/4"-28 threaded, nipple. Buffalo Arms sells these nipples, both the same length, for either a #11 percussion cap, or a 4-wing musket cap.

I would then have a pair each, of CVA, QRBP, #11 cap, breech plugs (#3), and CVA, QRBP, musket cap, breech plugs (#4). These would be back-up plugs if 209 primers were unavailable.

Last, but not least, I recently acquired an Arrowhead, LRMP, CVA, QRBP large rifle primer module, breech plug (#5). Until the world went crazy, I intended to switch to the Arrowhead LRMP, rifle primer breech plug as my go to, everyday plug. Because, when properly installed, it becomes a closed system with no blowback, or fouling to clean out of the action.

Now, both types of percussion caps, and both types of primers are in short supply.

Who knew? The wind blew. $**! flew!

Just ordered one myself, along with the some extra parts just in case. Said there were 2 left when i ordered. Should make a good backup in case I run out of primers. Thanks for the suggestion!
