    Outstanding Carp Recipe

About 30 years ago our gun club would venture up to Louisiana MO and buy filleted Buffalo Carp out of the Mississippi river. We would get about 40/50 lbs. The fish market feller would net the fish then put them in a big stock tank full of cool, clear water for a couple or 3 days before he...

Welcome Mark from smackdab in the middle of Missouri! I never shot any bullets, I was a round ball shooter! I never hunted anything bigger than whitetail deer and my .54 always did the job. I hope you find some. Big John

    No deer for me…….

I just lost my father-in-law Christmas morning. His daughter was there with him. He was 100 years and 3 days old. He killed the biggest 9 point buck last year when he was 98. (Birthday 12/22/22). His son took him deer hunting 6 times this past November (99yrs old) but the deer and his...

    Mama's cornbread recipe

Putting in the cilantro.... you might as well put in a handfull of dirt, it would taste the same! Love the bacon grease but would rather see the batter poured in a very hot cast oron skillet and listen to the sizzle as you"re pouring it! Don't ask me why I weigh just a tad over 300lbs!!!

    Don't Trust Anyone Over Thirty!

Well, here I set with a 40 year old mindset and a 78 year old body governing what I can do! I was really active, shooting , hunting, cutting wood and etc until my check engine light came on when I was 70. Two worn out knees bone on bone, a bovine valve in my heart and a pace maker has applied...

    Forgive me. I was weak...

The Savage Mod. 99 in .300 Savage was the first centerfire rifle I ever purchased. It is a 1920 model and I've taken several deer with it. It now sits in my safe as I haven't hunted with anything but a .54cal. caplock for the past 30 years! Big John

    Successful youth hunt!

As with all the young hunters including my son and grandkids, they never forget their first deer harvest! Most of them can recall every detail of the hunt and the experience. My son killed his first deer when he was 12 and is now 53 and can still tell the story exactly! My brother-in-law just...

Best tasting deer I've ever had

As a youngn' I worked at a service station on I-70 here in the middle of Missouri. We would watch the annual migration of hunters going west. Later coming back some, would stop with the elk or deer strapped on the top luggage rack or tied over the fenders, when cars had that type fenders, and...

    Couldn't help myself 2

    >>>>>>I ended up finding this in near new condition for a very good price. Pedersoli Indian Trade Musket. Fowler type guns are like hens teeth in Australia so it was a great deal. 20G/62 cal, need to figure out what size ball I want to cast still. Hopefully will have some hunting stories to...
