    New Cannon old cannon

My great uncle was a gun and knife collector. When he passed his sons sold most of his collection. They kept several hundred guns and miscellaneous items. One such item is this A&K cannon. Not sure of the exact date this one was manufactured but my grandma remembers them shooting it off on...

    Hello from Oregon!

Howdy from Central Oregon. You won’t be able to use your 209 primer legally in Oregon. They did change the sight rule a bit. You can now have fiber optic on the front sight. I worked up a load for elk with my CVA Northwest edition Optima V2. Using Thor 297 grain bullets and 90 grains of T7. RWS...

    CVA Northwest Breech Plug

Yes. The nipple comes out and you can buy (or could buy) replacements.

    CVA Northwest Breech Plug

At this time I’m hanging on to what I have. CVA couldn’t confirm that they would sell them without buying a new gun. Hence the lack of stock. Which is crappy in my opinion. Can’t buy parts for them? Ughh. I guess CVA is hoping the hold out states give up and conform. then we can plugin a 209...

    CVA Northwest Breech Plug

The plug will fit in the pistol. The plug even pre-pandemic was hard to get though. I bought several when I bought my NW rifle. Then they disappeared. I haven’t used one to shoot. I just ran it in to see if it would fit.

    Turkeys with a muzzleloading rifle?

Oregon says no to standard Muzzleloaders, crossbows, rim fire rifles and pistols. You can use your Falcon though. There is a provision in the definition of shotgun that allows you to use a muzzleloader as long as it meets certain criteria and you use birdshot. Shotgun: A smooth bore firearm...

    209 Primers

Here’s photos of the original breech plug and one of the replacements I have as you can see the nipple comes out. I even purchased ten replacement nipples (only because I lost one while cleaning at camp once). So what I have the nipples come out. Maybe they changed things?? I bought the nipples...

    209 Primers

The cap nipple comes out of the breech plugs I have for my CVA Optima V2 NW edition. So not sure what the one piece breech plug is that the OP has. I have two replacement breech plugs and they all have removable cap nipples.

    RWS percussion caps

Use the RWS musket caps for my CVA Optima V2 Northwest edition 50 cal. So far they work great.

    A legal everywhere muzzleloader?

I just finished sighting in my CVA Optima V2 Northwest edition for elk season. 100yds 80g T7 Thor 297gr. conicals. Peep sight. 1”-2” groupings. Pretty darn happy with it so far. Next week will be it’s first hunt. Prior to this gun I used my TC Hawkins 50 cal.

    CVA V2 Optima pistol parts

The spring from a Bic would need to be unwound a lot to work with the CVA NW. I’ll sure it could be done. As mentioned in my other post I ordered parts from MB sports and they came through with prompt delivery. Of course after receiving the parts the spring was found stuck to a cleaning brush...

    Easy camp food fixins

Having been avid backpackers we always have freeze dried food in our camp provisions. Been hard to find locally since the virus hit. Couple pantry items we always have are instant rice, sure is taters, dried soups. All quick and just require boiled water. Like Mr Tom we vacuum pack lots of...

What Muzzleloader are hunting with this year?

For both Elk and deer I’ll be using my Optima V2 northwest edition. Been sighting in with Thor 297grain hollow points with 80 grains of T7.

Heritage single action revolver possible issue?

it’s an accurate shooting gun with both the LR ammo and the WMR. You can plink a can or 3” plate all day long at 10-20 yards using LR. Yes as mentioned in my original post I carry WMR shot shells (CCI) in it when hiking.Shooting at paper, the spread at 10 yards is about 12”-18”.

Heritage single action revolver possible issue?

We have a heritage revolver and there is but if play with the cylinders. Ours you can either shoot LR or WMR two different cylinders, same barrel. So that may also explain the larger sizing. Pretty sure they use the the same barrel on all the revolvers. We’ve owned this gun since new and have...

    CVA V2 Optima pistol parts

This morning I went on a hunt for the Parts I need for the NW edition rifle. I wanted to make sure I have everything prior to my hunt in case I drop something in the dirt at camp. Swing as I lost the spring at home... I found that MB sporting goods has a great selection of CVA parts in stock...

    CVA V2 Optima pistol parts

Yes those little springs and the O ring like to go MIA. I ordered mine from CVA. Yesterday when cleaning my Optima V2 NW rifle the spring went MIA. Luckily I had a spare but now I don’t! The spring is bigger because the firing pin is bigger. Looked at Muzzleloaders but out of stock. Hopefully I...

    CO2 discharger

Why not just shoot the load? It’s what we do and have done since I was a kid prior to removable breach plugs. Never scared any animals off for the next morning hunt. Cleaning the gun is no big deal. Confused to what the issue is and the need is? 🧐

Is it legal to store a muzzleloader in a self-storage unit?

Ever storage facility I’ve dealt with has had rules in the contract stating what can or can’t be stored. Contact the facility and ask to look at the contract. Or ask if it’s okay. As for hiding it I wouldn’t store it in a plastic bag. Good way to attract moisture and ruin the gun.
