I know there were a lot of 44 cal muzzleloaders years ago ,seems to be an ignored bore the last 20 years, there may be others who have experimented with it too that could help me, there's two or three different bore dimensions of 44 cal available in America I guess if you start looking at the bore you'll realize that, I chose to experiment with .422 .423 rather than the .429- 430, I understand there are more 429-430 bullets available but I thought maybe the added BC and sectional density of the 422 423 might be an advantage. The first rifle that I got put together is on a Remington action with a Douglas 1-20,Dennis at fury bullets made me a couple of prototypes you see one of them in the picture it's a 275 lead tip that's shown great potential ,he also made another bullet with a little different profile I'll try to post a picture of it I already shot them all up, have a lot of experimenting left to do I'm waiting on more bullets I've just shot the gun with bullet sitting on the powder , no wad but I think I do need to try one, charge between 70 and 84 grains by weight of black horn,my intention is to also shoot the 429-430 bore I just didn't want to begin with it,one thing I can promise you when you pull the trigger you sure know you're shooting a rifle,,alot of snap!!
