Got a new Apex. Want to put a .243 cal barrel on it. I was thinking of mounting a Nikon Coyote or Monarch scope on it. Any thoughts on these scopes or another good scope that you use for coyotes and possibly deer sized game.

The Monarch is a fine scope. I have several. Another somewhat economical scope I use(more so) is a Burris FF-II. Of course something the likes of a Leupold VX-III(vari-x-III) is a fine scope too. I like to keep the reticle on the simple side, either duplex X-hairs or a 'ballistic-plex' at the most. I just never seem to need any of the busy reticles at normal hunting ranges. If you have a little time I'd look at a slightly used scope at some outdoor forums classifieds. You can jump up a notch or 2 in quality over paying retail new prices.
