Sent my Optima Elite to CVA to have them inspect it. I got a new Optima for Christmas and was planning on selling it. Got it bad with a note from the smith that he cleaned it. Well great but that is not what I asked of them. The manager asked that I send it back. This time I got it back with a note cleaned it and shot it. OMG. I called back the manager and ask exactly what they did. The smith was there and said he swapped out the hinge pin with a new one. No he didn't cause the pin I pulled had surface rust. I asked if he cleaned the gun after he shot it because there was residue on the breach. He asked if it was blued or SS? I said you just said you replaced the pin don't you remember if it was blued or SS? He said he looked at 15 guns yesterday he doesn't remember 2 weeks ago. The manager corrected him and said he looked at the 4 days ago.

Bottom line he saying he looked at 15 guns yesterday tells me they are more interested in quantity vs quality of craftmanship.

I cleaned it up and sold it at a local pawn shop.

I wish you did not have the problem with them. I had my first dealings with CVA about a month ago and they were great and did more than I expected.

You said you sent it in to have them inspect it? What was wrong with it? Did you let them know what it was?

You said it was an Optima Elite? Then you said you got a new Optima for Christmas. Is that two different rifles or just one? They haven't made the Optima Elites for the last 10 years. About how long you've been a member here before making your one and only post.

You didn't post this back in January 2009 when you joined, and it just popped up today, did you?

That has to be some kind of record, by the way. 4 days short of 10 years.

Just trying to make sure we aren't in the Twilight Zone, time warp, or something?

When you say a new Optima or Optima Elite, you mean NEW as in Brand New with a lifetime warranty, or New to you as a second owner with no warranty?

Why didn't you post your problem here? There are several guys that probably could have diagnosed any problem you could ever have.

What was wrong with it, and why did they have to clean it each time? Sounds like a failure to communicate to me? Especially if your request was as vague (inspect it) as your post here? We still have no clue what was wrong with it. Was it an Optima or a 10 year old Optima Elite? You totally lost me, and obviously Customer Service as well!

CVA CS has always been OUTSTANDING with any/all requests that I have ever had with them! I seriously doubt that the op really had any contact with them. Did I mention troll.

I agree with the outstanding customer service in any and all my dealings with them. Except for when I asked what the rate of twist was in the Scout V2.450 Bushmaster. I heard 1:16, 1:20, and 1:24 before I received it. It's a 1:24 by the way.

will probably get his answer in 10 yrs check back in 2029:D

Long time listener, first time caller!

I wonder if he bought the rifle at the Pawn Shop too? Seems like there was a whole lot of cleaning going on for a rifle that went to Customer Service 2 or 3 times. Then he cleaned it again, before selling it at the Pawn Shop. Must have been the cleanest rifle on the planet?:D

I'm glad others have great service with CVA. I did not. Attacking me or how often I post won't change that.

@Basta You looked up my stats? Wow I feel honored.

It was an Optima Elite that was 10 years old. After shooting it for the past 10 years, I wanted to have the barrel inspected for stress or defects. They knew that? Remember that was what I put in the note. You told me the rifle was cleaned both times and the hinge pin was replaced the second time but there was surface rust on the pin. I polished the pin with 000 wool and ran a 45 cal brush through the pin hole. Remember?

I'm addressing the CVA employee who replied.

I purchased the Optima Elite from CVA and my new Optima V2 from CVA. I mean why not right?

I now believe in the power of information that is why I am going to copy this post to every board I'm a member of. It's important for CVA to hear the good with the bad. Get it

I’ve only been a member here for 3 years. One thing I have noticed is, if someone is posting false information or is spreading discord, there are members who will quickly step in and take care of the situation. I am proud to be a member of Modern Muzzleloaders. Thanks to all.

Ok be specific what don't you understand? Is it just denial cause others are getting it. Did I seriously hurt your feelings?

@Herschel what I am hearing from your comment is if anyone has any negativity to post about an experience they are attacked in mass. When last I checked this is the United States of America not socialist China.

Seriously what don't you understand I had a bad experience with CVA. Now here's a hug go back to work and improve your customer service.

You sound vindictive because you didn't hear what you wanted to. This is a great site and even better people. Have a great day.

BJK did you post last Nov. on another board you had problems removing the stock from the barrel and CVA told you parts were no longer available for the Optima Elite? So they suggested buying a newer rifle and you were cool with that because you got 10 years out of it?

Was that the reason you sent it in to CVA for service?

Wonder how many forums he's going to post it on.Its on 24hrcampfire he's not making out real well there either.

I have rifles that are way older than 10yrs.... haven't thought of sending them in to be inspected just because they are old. Not saying it was wrong, I'm just not following here.

I'm unsure if we are getting the "Optimum" out this forum.
Should we try another?
