Tip was hard enough to break 2x while trying to get it out of the HP.
Also, body of tip filled the HP completely.

Lead felt soft with fingernail test.
I attempted to melt the lead out of the copper jacket to measure the thickness.

Rick thank you that is very interesting. Have you weighed more than 1 bullet ? Do you think that bullet has a actual copper jacket ? Where are the bullets available ? I would like to do some of my own experimenting . I would like to find the real world BC of the bullet. I have found which I am sure you have found also some guns can be finicky . It would be nice to have some on hand .

Would that be copper washed ? Do they make a .005 jacket ? I had some bullets special made that had a .012 jacket . I thought I was told there is such a thing as a .008 jacket . But .0045 is getting very thin .

Have you tested them for the required velocity to open properly? I have found bullets with plastic nose require a lot more velocity at impact to open properly.

Exactly what I expected to see. I checked them out last Friday at the NRA in Indy. I knew it must have been at least 1.5" long altogether.

Copperl Plated is what you see there. They probably use barrel platers. They would electroplate until they reach the desired thickness of copper plate.

Copper washed is still a form of plating, but only just enough to keep the lead bullets from oxidizing and help prevent leading. Lots of the cheaper .22 Long Rifle ammo have this type of coating. The lead .22 Long Rifle bullets are usually coated with wax to prevent corrosion and leading.

If you melted the lead away from a copper washed bullet, there wouldn't be a skin left like there is with a 0.0045" to 0.0055" copper plated bullet. It would have holes in it at best.

This is another bullet that might work great for punching holes in paper and banging gongs, but not something I'm going hunting with, until evidence proves itself.

I'm betting that when Luke gets his hands on one of the rifles, he'll have that breech plug and bolt issue fixed in no time. He completely corrected all the breech plug issues associated with the UF and RUM rifles to perfection. Then that issue will be completely resolved, something CVA should have done in the first place.
Once the breech plug issue is resolved, then one could start shooting real bullets and find out just how well their barrel is made and how well it will shoot at long range.
As far as the above bullet is concerned, IMO that type has never been worth a hoot anyway. If they shoot at 300m and will hit a gong, then a better bullet should shoot a tight group.
About time, a factory production rifle, capable of utilizing BH209 with heavier charges.

I've heard just last week that 150 VOLUMETRIC grains of Blackhorn 209 has also been approved for the Paramount. Toby has had a production rifle for the last two weeks that he is shooting with those apparently Western Powders and CVA approved loads.

I talked to him for about 10 minutes at the NRA Show last Friday. He only had time for one range session before the show, but plans to have another with more information on the next two weeks. Then a discussion about the rifle and the bullet by June 1.

Kinda associated with the pressure thread...…..

I meant with the Paramount ELR bullet. I thought it went without saying in the Paramount ELR thread? I posted a link that showed the bullets and a group.

I meant equal barrel pressures with 150grs of BH by VOLUME, and 150grs of T7 by volume.

Gotcha! Yes, but good luck getting Hodgdon to agree with that for the Triple Se7en. Both CVA and Western Powders have approved that load for the Paramount Rifle and 280 grain Paramount ELR Bullet.

Power Belts have always shot very accurately - the real problem is what they may or not do when they hit the live target. And Toby can shoot very well.

The Platinum PB work, verified. I just won't spend that much per round. Much better choices.

As always its an individual gun kinda thing. I shoot everything including the kitchen sink. Guns gatta like it or it wont shot straight.
