I posted this question over on Doug's and will post here as well... I have an Encore that is close if not over 20 years old. I have never changed the breech plug. Until this year my accuracy was superb. Now, not so much. Should I change it?

It took him 20 years to wear the first one out. Encore plugs are cheap enough that its not worth the machine work to modify a plug for vent liners unless you shoot a LOT, or can do the work yourself.
fortunately I have an extra 209 that has only been shot maybe 30 times... switched em out last pm. Got a scope in the mail yesterday for my savage 2- I'm off to the range this am. I will most likely order 2 new bp's later. Thank you all for your help
