My .50 percussion Hawken, that is.
Found out my rod and gun club allows members to hunt their 268 acres. I asked the range safety officer " Where do folk go?" He said " Over there" so I went " over there".
Walked in MAYBE 60 yards and up pops a happy meal at about 40 yards. Broadside and staring a hole through me.
BOOMflop.
My go to load. 70 grains of 3f Swiss, a .45 cal 250 grain XTP in a Harvester crush rib sabot. Chrono'd velocity is 1610 fps.

Thanks! I agree.
She was a fine healthy happy meal. Not smart. But healthy!
Btw. No color enhancement on the blood. She dropped where she stood. That XTP tore her UP.
This is why I say, if there was no other bullet available, I'd smile all day.

She was plump, but not terribly heavy.
The sabots were Harvester crush ribs. The black .45/50s. In all my T/C rifles, they are necessary with 250 and 300 grainers.
In my Firehawk, 200 and 230s are good with regular Harvesters. The Hawken needs crush ribs for the 230 and 250s. Regulars for the 200s.
Both my Renegades need crush ribs for everything.

I got to get to Cabelas and get me some of those 250gr bullets before they disappear.
