gas checks

Have any of you who shoot bullet to bore applications tried a cast boolit with a gas check on the bottom and one without a gas check?
I know that a boolit that has a gas check design that doesn't have a check applied will shoot differently than a plain boolit that has a plain base with no check involved
I just wonder if anyone has gone through this.
I am waiting for Tom to ship my mold to me for my 40 that has a check and I will try with a plain boolit and powder then one with the same charge with the addition of a wad between the powder and boolit
my hopes are the check improves the cast performance
BTW it's a 290 gr boolit allot TBD but definitely powder coated
