Picked up a blue jacket .54 cal rifle. Doc has seen pics and has authenticated the rifle as correct and accurate. It is #6 and was built in 1974 as you can see in one of the pics as blue jacket has basically signed the rifle by hand under the butt plate.

The lock was pretty ugly but cleaned and polished all surfaces that contact or move

All the parts have a no 6 stamped even the brass nipple has one. The gun was not used much and only once in the last twenty or so years the bore is perfect and the gun shoots good for only shooting a few shots at 25 yards but the trigger pull was very hard as I found when I took the lock apart it was pretty rough so after reworking the lock and getting a nice trigger pull the sear spring broke and has to be replaced so Ron paull will repair as a spring will have to be basically made as no replacements are available unless someone here might have one ?

Yeah it was a heck of a surprise when I found that under there it's kinda like getting a piece of art work and a gun ! Lol

Most definitely!! Super Cool find!! :yeah:

Yeah I'm very lucky and to think it sat there for a week and no one bought it !

The lock spring is fixed and I should have it by tomorrow and the barrel scrubbing is almost complete the barrel was filthy but luckily no rust it has taken a bunch of time and effort but the barrel is basically pristine after all the scrubbing with no pitting. I hoped to have had it ready for our shoot yesterday but didn't have the lock back in time so I used the full stock hawken and took 1st place these plum center barrels are tack drivers !

Got the chance to shoot it today did the trigger job last night it's a smooth 3-31/2 lbs and the gun shot extremely well with 40 grs 2f at 25 yards and 70 grs at 75 and 100 yards hitting the steel Turkey and rams it's amazing how well a gun this old shoots so well.
