I went to the range today to fire my muzzleloader, Knight KRB 7 and I'm having a hard time loading the sabots, in about 1" from the top. after that it goes in easy. Is this normal? Is there anything I can use to make it load easier?

Thank you.

Yes that's normal. BASICALLY the rifling is just engraving the sabot. After that it usually gets a good bit easier. PERSONALLY...I LIKE a tight bullet/sabot. I usually get better accuracy. Of course not too tight. I just like to have a firm, steady, consistant push.

If it's too hard to push you can go to a smaller diameter/crush rib sabot..

You can lick the sabot with your tongue before seating..it should help the seating process.

There are a "few" sabot lickers on this site.

Harvester Crushed Rib is what I use in my Knight rifles. Another good one is a MMP hph-24 and the E-Z load. There are some two petal model sabots out there that are supposed to be easy to load, but I have no experience with them.
