HOW TO CUT A BARREL?

Looking for the best method for cutting down a barrel. Also, would I need to crown it after I cut it? I do not own a lathe, so what’s the least expensive way to do it? This is on a Remington 1858 New Army.

Thank you for pointing me to this. I assume the same concept is okay, no matter the type of barrel? I also searched for the topic before posting this, but didn’t find anything. Sorry to waste space with a double question in a forum.
