Hey guys, if you do not mind, would you post your most accurate loads ( Blackhorn or Triple 7 only please) and velocities you are getting? If you have any real world results like Lane or Nimrodrx, that would be great too. Thanks. I can find no info on shooting the Blackhorn 209 out of the .45 caliber rifles.

.45 load

Knight disc extream .45 cal. shootin 120 gr of BH209, 200grain sst, light blue harvester sabot, win. 209 cap. Gun shoots 1.5 in at 200yds , 3 inch at 300yds. Burris 4.5 to 14 ballistic plex. approx velocity[by the charts is 2200 fps] I could hardly believe how well this combo shoots.

I have a Knight .45 cal Wolverine 209 with 26" barrel. Using 110 gr of BH209, 200 gr SST/SW in a light blue harvester sabot, Winchester 209 shotgun primer in a red FPJ.

If I do my part from the bench I get sub MOA at 100 and 200 yards using a Nikon 3x9 40mm Prostaff scope. I have it set to shoot 3" high at 100 and that gives me about 4" low at 200. Based on what I have read, my best guess is that it is doing somewhere around 2100 fps.

The gun is new to me this year. I have taken several deer with it this season and have been very pleased with the setup.

Wayles,

Having shot several dozen .40/200gr SSTs over a chrono (only difference is that I was using a .40/45 MMP sabot out of a Disc Elite), I can tell you that they consistently average 2450 fps.

have you guys tried the knight 40/45 sabots-brown? If not, which ones would you recommend?

.45 load

NimrodRX ..... Your useing BH209 if I remember right, What charge and barrel length are you useing to get the 2450 fps. I need to get my buddy to go out with me as he has a chronograph. What is the largest charge of BH209 you have tried. I tried 130 grains but the accuracy went south.
MQ ........I have tried the brown barns but was not happy with the accuracy. Your gun could like either the tan mmp or the the light blue smooth harvester

Another thing, is there a difference in the 200 SST and the TC SW200? I know my TCs and Wayles SST 200s were different lengths.

FWIW With my 45cal Disc Elite, it takes 130gV = 93.6gW of BH209 to attain 2450fps, with the 200g Shockwave/SST

My BH209 conversion factor is .72gW (.72gW x 130gV=93.6gW)

Chrony Results for 200g SST in MMP Tan Sabot with BH209, NFPJ:

150gV, 108gW = 2610fps

130gV, 93.6gW = 2450fps (180g Gold Dot = 2487)

120gV, 86.5gW = 2354fps (FPJ = 2295fps)

200g ShockWaves------110gV, 80gW = 2223fps

90gV, 65gW = 1962fps

275g PowerBelts, FPJ, 100gV, 72gW = 1930fps

50gV, 36gW = 1504fps

300g Platinum PowerBelt, 50gV, 36gW = 1300fps
60gV, 43gW = 1500fps

NFPJ, 36cal, 70g Round Ball in MMP 40/357cal sabot. 30gV, 21.6gW = 1282fps

Shock wave

The tc sw is a tad sharper pointed. Basicly the same bullet made by hornady. They shoot identicle for me

Lane, I noticed in your very well written harvest report w/ pics that you are hunting with 90gn/v. Do the hot charges suffer in the accuracy dept?

Accuracy

Lane .....WOW>>>at what charge does your accuracy go south useing the 200 grain shock wave and what sabot are you useing. Thats amazing

SST's in Tan MMP sabots, 130gV is still very good at 120yard range, although it will set you back a bit in recoil   About a 1.5 to 1.75 inch group. I am just shooting off folding tables and some bean bags :D

Nimrod has done the actual 200 yard testing, and I would go with his recommended loads.

I do know this, that the Shockwave Green 45/40 cal Sabot, is THE most accurate for all the 40 cal bullets I've used so far. It is a very tight fit in my bore 8) [/b]

I did get back to the range one time to check the 150gV load for accuracy. Ended up with a 4.5inch spread at 120yards. And I let the rifles rest 10 min between each shot. Temps were around 50 degrees. And that load kicks the snot right out of ya

The green sabot is packed with the tc shockwaves. I don't have a clue on who is actually producing them.

Who makes the green sabot, and why can't I buy them seperately?

MMP makes them for Thompson Center, propitiatory stuff, so we have to call TC directly(I did, and they never got back to me :x ) Dell Ramsey can't brake the agreement with TC to sell them directly to us, unfortunately :(

You boys are really making me want to buy and play with a .45 Elite.

Do you find the smooth blue Harvester to be more accurate than the supplied MMP Tan Sabots?

Ahhh, same deal as the orange .357/45 sabots he's making for Epps. Epps will however sell just the sabot. I'm willing to bet that TC won't do the same...
