It appears the Marines will get 346 Rem 700 based rifles of .300 Win mag. The cost is nearly $12,500 per unit, I suspect that may include exotic night/optics. Hopefully Remington's bankruptcy troubles will not be a problem.

As I understand it, the will be built by Crane. I'm sure they have had the magnum actions on the shelf for awhile.

They are having pressure issues with the ammo though. Exciting to see that we are looking for more, but would rather see something with a lot more.

Seems a great round for that use, not to big, but more oomph than the 308. I would suspect the rifles are heavily customized, then expensive optics as mentioned.

I think Chris Kyle mentioned the 300 Win Mag being his favorite in his book. Yes, there are the ‘big boomers’ but for run of the mill use, and portability and recoil, the 300 winny is plenty.
