Navy arms box lock .58

Anyone out there have any info on a navy arms caplock 58 cal ? Gun has a brass reciever 1-1/4” across the flats looks like 3 grooves slow twist 1-60 ish. Would like to find someone that knows a little about it.

Only thing ive ever heard was that Navy Arms didn't put their name on crappy guns.

I have a 50 that shoots round ball very well. Not sure if it has the same rifling. The 58 came with a bullet mold and I have heard they shot great to.

Not a lot of interest in this subject but since I started the thread I thought I’d add some pictures, maybe it will be a reference to someone else some day. All I ended up doing to it was a new ram rod and new nipple. I hope you enjoy the pictures, it’s definitely different.

That's a very interesting rifle. I like the grain of the stock and that brass receiver is unusual. I hope you get a chance to send some lead down range with it.

Nice looking rifle. Definitely different look.
Round ball with some different thickness patches and powder charges till you find the most accurate.
Track of the Wolf muzzleloaders has a few different options for a lead conical bullet, if you decide to go that route.
Good shooting with the new rig.

I’m mainly a patched round ball guy, I’m especially not interested in a 5-600gr conical just for whitetail…. But Lyman had a Minnie ball mold in the 300gr area, I think it’s 575494. I might try to locate ont of those molds but I hate dropping 100.00 just to try it.

The bore is absolutely a mirror, might just be dirt on your screen
