Going to be buying a CVA Optima V2 rifle soon and just looking for help with casting boolits. I have lead and pot and whatnot, just need to figure out which way to go, either sabot or full dia lead projectile. Probably try both!

Welcome. I have cast both. Bullets held in a sabot are easier to deal with, stay snug in the bore. My easiest have been .452" 200 grain bullets that I have used in the 45 acp, 45 Colt/Schofield, and also in a 50 cal M-L held in a sabot.

With my 320 grain Lee REAL bullets in 50 cal, the slug isn't very tight in the bore once it goes down. There can be ways to deal with that. Since I was just experimenting I never really pursued it all that far.

Welcome to the forum. My Optima shoots both conical bullets and sabots very well. I have shot a 460 grain conical and it does real well.
