Just got my new cva optima v2 (.50 calibar) last week. I'm new to in line muzzle loading. Trying to decide where to start with powder/sabots/bullets. Will be using the rifle to hunt whitetails during our upcoming December BP season. I hunt the modern gun season with my .308 reloads and tracking has not been required. Looking for the same type of performance from my optima. Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard - great to have you! Lot's of Optima shooters here, I'm sure they'll steer you right.

Be blessed

Welcome. I am in north central Arkansas, just north of Clinton.

Been shooting a side hammer but switched to an inline. Have a CVA Accura MR in 50 cal.

My Optima shoots BlackHorn 209. I got the CVA breech plug. I shoot 90 grains of powder and a 260 grain Hornady PT Gold with a black crushed rib sabot. It also shoots .40 caliber 200 grain Shockwaves real well.
