I read Sabotloader's thread on PBR with interest. I've heard of this years ago, before BDC scopes. I have a couple scopes with the BDC.
Last year I bought a new scope for my crossbow with reticles from 20 to 70 yards. I read the directions on how to adjust this and it it pretty clever. The magnification dial is not in the std power scale but in fps. You adjust it depending on your bolt's velocity. Example, sight in at 20 yards the move to 40 and adjust the dial until you hit the bull with the 40 yd reticle. Once your reticles are all sighted in you don't move the magnification dial.
Then I thought, hey, you can do this with any scope with a BDC reticle. Just set the magnification in accordance with your particular load and leave it there.
