Calico did VERY well! Given that this barrel is literally new and not broken in, I can take 3 round groups at 50, open sighted, of 1 1/4 inches. Also, the front sight is a white plastic BLOB. Kinda hard to use well. Will replace with a brass bead as time permits.
Happily, she doesn't throw the first clean cold shot out of the group.
The load is my go to. 45 caliber 250 gr XTP in a Harvester crush rib ( and this one NEEDS them) and 70 gr of 3f Swiss Holy black.
I was a little nervous about the barrel swap. So happy to be wrong!
Have to say, the Firehawk and Thunder hawks are probably the best looking, handling and accurate rifle TC ever made. The 1-38 twist is very under rated. It will stabilize a 300 grain 45 nicely ( requires a 1-39 1/4 twist according to Greenhill)and with 250 s, is more accurate than my 1-28 rifles. That was quite a surprise.
If you get a chance to pick up a Firehawk or Thunderhawk, and its in good shape, I doubt it will disappoint.
