Very good rifle to start with Floyd. I'd use the 1/2"x5/8" french amber flints wrapped in leather. The price is a bargain to.
 
I've had a couple of CVA rifles, a Flinter and Cap lock.  I think they are very good rifles.  I think that rifle would be a good choice to start with.  The rifle is good looking too!
 
Falcon, I've had a CVA percussion cap for 30 years. I used it to take my deer this November. 
It has been a fine, serviceable rifle. I've replaced a main spring. I need to replace a trigger 
spring. It is finally showing some wear, but all cosmetic. That's it.
