This may have talked about before but I have not seen how many people use ticking material for patches and round ball and your results.
 
Finding the proper thickness of material is key toan accurate load. I have used ticking, cotton duct, and denim (worn jeans). If using new materials be sure to wash the sizing out and air dry.

I use ticking . Tightness of weave is key. I actually take my micrometer to the store and check thickness before buying. Amazing how much difference there actually is sometimes.
 
Listen to 1874sharpsshooter. Take your calipers with you to the fabric store. Don’t feel silly they’ve see others doing the same. I found ticking in .015, .018, .020, .022. Get a small sample of each and see what your gun likes then go buy the whole bolt.
