Last week, two visitors from the mining industry in South Africa came for a visit.
I took them to see the preserved, old mining town of South Park City, in Fair Play, Colorado, then we went through Buena Vista, the home town of one of our fine members, here. From there, we went to Leadville where I showed them some reclaimed mine sites at about 11,300 ft altitude.

One of the visitors left and the other, a former student of mine from a South African University, is staying at my home until Sunday. I took the young man to shoot one of my flintlocks. I think we have another muzzleloader convert!

Here are my visitors at a mine site in Leadville:

OK, there is some artistic license perpetrated on the photo. :D

I get headaches at anything over 11,000 ft. but you sure can see for awhile up there.

How tall are the Drakensberg mountains?

The tallest in the Drakensberg Mtns. is around 11,400, with a few near 11,300.
One of my visitors requested that we leave the high altitudes as he was getting lightheaded. He lives near Johannesburg, at about 4200 ft altitude.
