If a person wanted a sml for decent price the CVA CF 45-70 Hunter with the 25" bbl is your target. Then you get the bbl threaded for Hank's HIS module. He could do a muzzle brake. The accuracy is there for sabots n bore riders say 250 yards. Being an sml you do not have to clean it a lot. It just adds to your options for shooting n hunting. Yes it was shoot blk. powder n the Sub's if you wanted to play that way in any State that says black powder n Sub's only

What does the total cost of that with the gun and BP and work/machining and all come to ? Is the barrel for that CVA gun made by bergeara? Is it the same bergeara that makes the barrels for their MRX series ? If so do they have different sections or processes or people that make the muzzle loader barrels versus the center fire barrels?

I spect about $600 area with bbl shipping charges to be added. I see them done all the time by members over on his message Board. The rifle is around $300 , all i know is its the CF rifle bbl's they use on all of their new models. Of course its drilled n tapped for scope bases n rings

I just sent a CVA barrel to Hank’s. For $715, he drilled and tapped the barrel, added the breach plug, 25 HIS primer modules, replaced the standard break with a tactical break, replaced the the stock scope rail with a better one, bought a sizing die, and a 3 piece ramrod with a spin jag installed on it. I paid about $450 for the gun so less than $1,200 for a more than capable SML.

What kind of groups and what speed are you pushing bullets? Ty

I think the CVA conversion is still less expensive , this one got an up graded muzzle brake and a sizing die. The only thing required over the stock rifle after conversion is a ramrod.

We’re talking about a smokeless-capable .45 aftermarket McGowen barrel to go on an Omega. These are smokeless barrels made to fit an Omega. Mark’s come with an adjustable breech plug, picatinny rail and ramrod. And nitride finish. All ready to go - just attach the Omega swinging breech action and drop in a stock.

Ive been shooting my CVA 45/70 conversion today and i love almost everything about it, except removing the extractor to remove the breech plug. Or if shooting with out the extractor in, having to dig out the modules. A 209 plug in this would be a much better plug, imho.
Being able to adjust headspace on the Woodman and just use 209s sounds like a better hunting setup. But I am loving the 45/70 with 200XTPs and imr4198.

I just finished a CVA Scout conversion with criteria you mention. I went with a 209 ignition for convenience although somewhat out of vogue , went with an ASG 209 pug modified with a insert for adjustable headspacing, I made an extractor to work with the 209 primer. I didn't install the roll pin and spring with the extractor for ease of breech plug removal and it stays in place as long as the gun is assembled.
I'm sure a Woodman adjustable plug could be fitted with these conversions as mentioned with the appropriate thread size for the plug.

Did you do the mod to the plug?
Im pretty sure i can duplicate that extractor, myself. Thx for the pics of it. Got any pics of the plug mod?

My buddy Al from Dougs came up with this idea when we first started smokeless builds he made an insert with a shoulder at the bottom of the primer pocket then drilled and tapped the breech plug to accept it. You set it up similarly to the way the Woodman plug is adusted except his is locktited into place once determined. I like the Woodman design since it is locked into place with the bushing collar.
Pretty sure Arrowhead sells an adjustable breech plug.
here' s a pic of Al's design
