50x40 in smokeless is usually pointless. Drilling sabots is common but if you keep the load mild enough it could work. Like 35gr of N110 and a 40 200gr XTP might hold together. If you are looking at speed from higher BC 40s you probably wont be happy with the results.

Try the load i mentioned with and without a wool wad under the sabot.
You could also just get Barnes 200gr 45cal XPBs and forget the other headaches. Recoil is very mild even at 39gr of N110.
