Holy smokes VA hunter, that there's a biggin! Congrats and I like the mount also. What weapon and caliber did you use?

Took him with a 7mm mag. Distance was about 60 yards. Guide told me to put it in his shoulder, and all the hog did when I shot was flinch and started to walk away. Put the next round in the base of his neck and he went down.

I didn’t see the damage that was done. I was hesitant about the shoulder shot knowing it’s almost like steel plate but the guide insisted on the shot. I did get a note in with the processed meat that said “Both shoulders damaged”

Not like a steel plate at all.

In fact if you castrate a boar hog, it will dissolve.

I shoot lots of hogs with a .222 thru the shoulders.

There are folks here who hunt hogs with dogs and use a knife to dispatch them. They have more true get than I.

I did that one time and I'll guarantee that I'll never do it again. That's killing like you don't want to do it. It might be good practice for someone in the military, but not for anybody else.
