I was able to connect with a nice 7 pointer this year during the regular firearms season. I used my knight mountaineer 45 cal 1-20 twist. I was using 265gr Fury SBT and 100gbv blackhorn 209 and Remington primer.
The shot was at 80 yards, the buck was coming from a bedding area to a cut corn field. I was hunting a river bottom that connected the two. As the buck stepped out of the thick brush he stopped with only his head and neck showing, shoulder was blocked by a tree and a fawn started blowing down wind of me, I had to take a neck shot or nothing. As soon as the smoke cleared the buck was laying where I shot.
