Breech plug was clear and I truly don’t think the breech plug is the problem. I think it’s a seal issue and for whatever reason the barrel just doesn’t want to seal. The wool was seemed to make a difference though more testing is definitely required.
Idk if you are familiar with sub bases. Basically its a sabot base, no petals, intended to fit into the base of a sabot to add sealing for magnum loads.. Someone makes them in .50 cal size but not in .45. Some of us have resorted to making them out of .45 sabots by simply cutting off the petals and trimming the top of the base flush and flat. They seal better than wool wads or cards. I use them under lead bore riders to protect the bullets from hot loads. But you might try it out in your Encore. They give a bore rider the same seal as a sabot. I usually size my bullets a tiny bit larger then normal to help help obturation, when using them.
