The bullet was shot into the carpet, plywood, bottles; magazine stack and was 'caught' by the sixth (last) bottle. Powder charge is 80 grain Blackhorn. Primer is 209A. Rifle is Omega X7. The first three bottles are destroyed. The fourth, and fifth bottle have holes in, and out. Sixth bottle has hole in; no hole out.

And the FTX was the poor mans Barnes O when the Barnes was scarce. Lots of MLII owners swapped to using the 458cal FTX. They are pretty well suited to the speed a modern ML can shoot them.

Same bullet I use in the 52 cal and gets the job done,
I’ve been thinking about using them in the 50 but haven’t got around to buying sabot yet.

Great bullet, I’ve taken quite a few with my 52 knight with them.thanks for testing them Ron

The deer on the left was killed by one of my customers with the 325 grain Horn. .458 FTX in the MMP Orange sabot, out of a Rem 700ML I converted to 209 ignition.

The deer on the right was killed by my niece's husband with the same bullet and sabot and a "Self-Ejecting Muzzleloader Safety Cartridge" containing the propellant.

I shot two deer with them through the shoulders. The bullet exited each time. I am having trouble getting them to group at 200 yards in my 52 cal but I am guessing it has more to do with the sabot than the bullet.

Thanks Ron. I use that bullet in my Scout .45-70 but in the Scout SML I use the 300 gr SST. Both IMO are good deer & black bear bullets and even for bigger game.

Are you smooth sizing down from 0.458"?
No, the FTX 325s are .458" and shoot them out of my .45-70 cartridge rifle. The 300 gr SSTs are .452" and I size them in my Swinglock die to .4505" for a snug B2B fit in my Scout conversion. Although they are the same bore diameters a person couldn't possibly load the .458 in a .45 cal conversion. Ron was shooting the 325s in a .50 cal rifle with an MMP sabot designed for .458" bullet.

thanks for the test Ron! I recently bought 2 new knights when they were on sale .52. Bought a bunch of sabots and bullets! So this is nice to see! A lot of people on here told me that was a good bullet to go with!

I have found with several Accura 50 cals that the green MMP sabot w .429 Hornady 265g FTX and the orange MMP sabot with .458 Hornady 325 g FTX shot exceptionally well. Not a bank breaker either.
I stopped using XTP on game due to a large amount of meat damage.
They make a big hole!
They can be accurate though and I use them to sight in.
Post in thread 'Does anyone have a good sabot setup for the CVA Accura?'

They shot great in CVA Accura V2 50
