Opening Day

Today is the season opener for archery deer.
Wish is was a bit cooler here in southeast Oklahoma. Gotta be about 60 degrees now and 90 later this afternoon.
I'm heading out in a hour or so.
Gonna sit for a bit anyway.
Not sure if I'll take the shot if one presents but we'll see.

Mo. archery has been open since Sept. 15th. I see between 5 n dz. almost everyday out by my Climber. I hunt with my crossbows n ML's. Its been too hot high 80' n low 90's. I am not going to kill myself trying to keep deer meat from spoiling n keeping the gazillion flies n yellow jackets off of it. I am waiting til some lower 50's in the mornings before i go that route.

Archery opener here today, too. 60’s this morning & 78* rite now. Still mosquito season also boat & camper winterizing season so I’ll make as much side job cash as i can before it actually turns cold and i can get into a stand without being devoured.

Opening day here in Ind. as well.Temp was 54*.Saw 2 does too lttle to shoot and 2 basket rack bucks,bit not ready to shoot right now.Not going this evening but back out there in the morning.Good luck every one.

I’m at my place in NW Oklahoma, and my youngest son and daughter in law are here. I’m playing host/outfitter. I didn’t go this morning but may get in a stand this evening.

Thank you. He came off my place in Oklahoma. I hunted him all of 2013 and never saw him from the stand, and I had 5 close encounters with him in 2014 before finally getting a shot. One of mine and my Dads strong bonds was our love for hunting, and he encouraged me to keep pursuing that buck in 2013. My Dad’s cancer came back in the spring of 2014, and he died on September 13, 2014. I have dedicated that buck to my Dad and use that picture as an avatar on every hunting message board I’m on in memory of him.

Crossbow at 25 yards the evening before muzzleloader season opened, but I did have my $300 out of state muzzleloader license in my pocket.

Bow season started here in Iowa yesterday, 93 for a temp, I mowed the grass instead of hunting I'm heading out in a couple of weeks for early muzzleloader season. Forecast is for much cooler weather.

Good luck to all. Missouri archery opened 9/15 - I have been a few times but been trying to tie up loose ends. I plan on getting out for the Doe firearm hunt this weekend. Looks like a cool down coming later this week.

That's a great honor to your dad! I lost my dad back in February and this season isn't going to be the same without him! We hunted together for over 40yrs!

Bow season started here in Ohio on Saturday. I'll be waiting for it to cool off some before heading out. It's been in the 80s here but it's supposed to be cooling off this weekend coming up. Good luck to you all!
