The people working at the USPS are like any others.
They make mistakes.
But, they are accepting job applications.
I take issue with your statement, this is NOT about people delivering or routing the mail. It is about the system of "don't give a F#@K" that the PO has. I cringe every time I see a package go through St. Louis. I have lost more **** there than anywhere.

Every organization has a few people with that attitude, along with a few people who will do anything to climb the organizational ladder no matter who it hurts or how badly it hurts them. Organizations that indentify and get rid of both types tend to thrive, while organizations that don't either go broke or get bailed out by government or are part of government. Bad organizations - and practically every organization that government touches in any significant way falls into the bad category - don't get rid of these people, so the "don't give a %#@!!" attitude rapidly spreads throughout the organization, and the "me first at any cost" people are soon in charge at every level.

So, I been following this thread for the past couple of days wanted to share my recent experience with USPS. I purchased a under hammer muzzleloader from a guy in Minnesota after reviewing pictures of the Rifle. Paid for insurance. The package was 2 days late according to their tracking, no big deal. When I received it I found that the shipping box had two folds in it. Upon opening it the stock was cracked almost in half, like someone took it on an overhead blow to a loading dock. The sight elevator had been knocked out and the trigger return spring knocked out of it's position. Contacted USPS, I was informed that the seller would have to file a claim since he shipped it regardless of the fact that I paid for the insurance. They would keep the rifle until an inspector could review damage. Long story short, went to post office, informed it could take 4-6 months for final decision. They would only pay for value amount determined by them and not the price paid or insured amount. Repair was not an option. Claim could be denied if in their opinion a used box, insufficient box or packaging was used and no reimbursement for insurance either way. I kept the rifle and repaired it myself. Insurance is useless unless it's completely lost and then they'll decide how much to reimburse you. A Gov. agency that wouldn't last a week in the private sector.

Here in Central VA, the post office will not even address the issue with the public, despite our State Officials, Senator's and a Congresswoman's request for at least sending out a notice or holding a townhall. I do not understand how they can get away with it.

Exactly why government organizations are always so woefully ineffective and wasteful: Somehow they get the idea that they are so important and so much smarter than everybody else that the taxpayer peons they are supposed to be serving don't matter. .

... our packages are literally thrown around with less regard than chucking cinderblocks or firewood. Them having no reaction to when they hear things break from what they are doing. They don't miss a beat.
It’s not just USPS, it’s all the carriers. You have to pack stuff as if they are trying to destroy it.
.... No apologies or any accountability.
A general lack of respect seems to be evolving across many of the service industries, but shipping/delivery stands out to me also. Once had a new SW Model 29 disappear for almost 4 weeks past the delivery date.

I've definitely noticed a gradual decay in every industry since starting in the workforce & I'd wager it's all by design. Results of the participation trophy, no accountability, no hurt feelings cultural initiative haha. Last thing I bought from classifieds here it took forever for the seller to receive payment through regular mail so I'll spend extra for 1st class from here on & just hope I'm not wasting money haha

I mailed a bubble mailer from Rochester to the twin Cities not long ago. I was asked if I wanted it to go first class, priority or standard mail. I asked what the different charges were and priority was the most expensive, first class and bulk cost the same. Then I asked what the shipping times were between the three options. They were the same....3-4 days. Bulk was the cheapest so I did that and asked the person getting the package to give me shout when the package arrived. The next morning!!!! he called and thanked me for the prompt service. I honestly don't think that six people working at the same desk in a post office know what the next person is doing or saying. They sure as heck have no idea how long anything will take or how it will get there.

Not really a big deal to me because if the pkg. does not eventually arrive EBAY will refund my money but here goes the story. My son brought me a Boxer puppy last week so I ordered her a new orthopedic bed from Ohio it went to Atlanta then to Montgomery Al. then to North Carolina and now it is in Pennsylvania and I am In Alabama close to Birmingham tracking says it will be delivered Saturday I guess I will just wait LOL

Yep. We've trained the last few generations to expect rewards whether they produce anything or not. That may just be the biggest of the many destructive elements of socialism.

This isn't something new either. The USPS lost my fathers ashes, clearly marks Cremains in a bright yellow box for 11 days. It took a Florida Senator to get to the bottom of this. We missed the US Army ceremonies and had to postpone till Spring. Needless to say I have very little positive to say about the USPS.

Well the USPS surely ain’t what it was. I live in the suburbs and the mail was always delivered every day rain or shine well it ain’t no more. Too cold no mail. Snow no mail. Rain no mail. I mean really. And all the mailmen always wore a uniform now that also is not so. Last year I was at the post office to pick up my mail that wasn’t delivered because of bad weather at least that was my belief but when I complained they said it was due to a shortage of workers

Someone here takes issue with me?
I am not allowed to express my feelings because if I do I will get booted.
If you have an issue with the Post Office, get a job application or STHU!
