Ramrod tip removal

I need to shorten a hickory ramrod but not sure of proper procedure to remove the brass tip. It doesn't appear to be pinned. Will a heat gun loosen things up? Thanks

Most likely glued on, so yeah, I would try heating it up.

If that doesn't work saw it off and drill the wood out. Then you have to cut the rod to the desired length and thin it to reinstall the tip. Make sure you do this evenly so the tip is straight. I epoxy mine on and also pin it by drilling a small hole and tapping in a brass brad, cut it and peen.it over.
