6 or so years ago i stopped hunting with this weapon
after taking a few deer. i was able to find all of the deer.
but i must say it took all of my hunting skills to do so each time.so i racked it and let dust hold it down for years.

now back to this years season.
i found this web site and forum and came
to choice a new load from reading here and a
few other links.

after a good cleaning and some steel-wool
down the old girl to buff her up some.
i was off to the range.
i started with
100 grains of 777 powder
TC shockwave 250 black sabot
209 primers.
at 25 yards i hit a piece of blue painters tape
same at 50 and then at 100 for a solid group of rounds all in the tape.good enough for me to hunt with.

this deer was shot at 128 +or- yards"i had ranged the trails early that day shot hit high in the lungs.
the deer never moved from it own tracks and hit the ground

now on to the rest of the story
it was the last day of the second gun season here.
this small buck walked by at 147 +or- yards"i had ranged the trails early that day. the deer was hit hard i just knew it
with that all to common tail flick left to right and the slow jog of the animals gait left to right with arching curve to the ground about 40 yards off the hill side and down he goes.

i loaded up my trusted weapon and off to poke the beast in the eye as good old dad had always said to do sure enough
my bullet had hit pay dirt there he laid by a big oak tree
no need to blood trail him any more.
the deer was hit mid body 3rd to last rib and exit whole was behind from should 3rd rib from front of chest i had made a clean past thru shot taking out the liver and both lungs clean and a half dollar sized exit wound.

i must say this is the best season i ever had with a 50 cal.
i really like the TC Shockwave 250 grain load IT ROCKS

Congratualtions on the Harvest(s)... The Omega remains my most favorite TC muzzleloader...

Glad you had such a good season...

Congrats on the fine season. I am very bias but i always recomend the Omega to anybody starting out. TC should cut me a check as i have helped 7-8 people out with buying one lol. They are a simple reliable design.

I am a big Omega fan too. Congrats on a great season. :applause: :applause:
